Title

temp of breadmold

Problem Scenario

To see if I can prevent bread mold from growing.

Broad Question

which type of bread and what temp makes bread mold faster and mold slower

Specific Question

how much time does it take to grow mold

Hypothesis

my hypothesis is that cold air will make the mold growth slower than room temp

Variables

Independent Variable:

types of breads that mold faster

Dependent Variable:

mold per sq inch

Variables That Need To Be Controlled:

temp

Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

mold is a hollow form or matrix for shaping a fluid or plastic substance
bread is a staple food made from flour or meal mixed with other dry and liquid ingredients, usually combined with a leavening agent

General Plan

1. get bread
2. put bread on plate
3. put bead in freezer and table
4. wait till molding is done
5. put on graph

Safety Or Environmental Concerns

the bread could get stale

Experimental Design

Controlled, manipulated experiment

What is your experimental unit?

The amount of bread mold on a slice of bread.

Number Of Trials:

i will have 3 pieces of 3 different kinds of bread for each evierment.

Number Of Subjects In Each trial:

There are 3 subjects for each trial, 3 picies of bread in each controlled eviroment.

Number of Observations:

There will be 5 observations in 10 days for both projects

When data will be collected

after 5 days i will check the bread then in another 5 days , because 10 days is the average amount of mold growth for bread.

Where will data be collected?:

i will do this at my house and i have 3 people in my house and my mom checks that when i'm not home so i guess shes a nice mom

Comparative Study

Number Of Comparison Categories:

the two conditions or temp of air.

Number of Comparison Samples:

2 different samples freezing and room temp.

Number Of Observation In Each Sample:

3 different types of bread for each condition.

When data will be collected

March 15th

Where will data be collected?:

One will be collecvted in a fridge and one on the counter.

Detailed Procedure

first you would get a loaf of bread and then put it in a freezer or on the dirt or near a plant so you would get some fungi/mold

Photo List

Time Line

the 5th day of bread mold no mold 10th day of bread mold the freezer 2 spots the room temperature 1 spot

Data Table

there some mold but not a lot the bread in the freezer was so cold it couldn't get oxygen so it couldn't mold that much and the bread in the room couldn't get oxygen because it went stale

Data Analysis

All Raw Data

my got a little mold but not that much so how would that happen you would say thats because the freezer freezes the bread so it cant get oxygen and that means that it cant get the mold because its frozen

Graphs

Photos

Results

it didn't get that much mold because the oxygen didn't get to it that much so it dident get mold because mold is from oxygen

Conclusion

Discussion

mold is a gross subject i know but everyone knows mold it grows on bread, oranges, all different sorts of stuff so literally every thing molds well almost every thing

Benefit to Community and/or Science

they get to find out how long it takes for bread mold to grow

Background Research

mold is a type of fungi and is very bad to eat and you will be sick if you eat it
